BBC ONE – Real Story with Fiona Bruce: Killer in the Cab – with more than half a million HGV drivers on Britains roads, a new study claims an alarming number of these drivers could be a Killer in the Cab. Obstructive Sleep Apnoea is a sleep disorder that causes people to stop breathing during the night so they feel sleepy during the day. We have exclusive access to results that show around 1 in 6 truck drivers could be suffering from the most severe form of the disorder, requiring immediate treatment. The Government says it is up to the drivers to see their GP and tell the DVLA if they have a problem. But with NHS waiting lists of up to two years for a consultation, some drivers are too scared to go public, in case they lose their jobs. In this episode of Real Story we meet families destroyed by sleep apnoea – and a driver who killed as a result of his condition. **This programme achieved the highest rating of any Real Story so far this year** A co-production with BFM.
